This text describes the components which are freely available for creation of complete X-Plane scenery for the Czech Republic (and partly also for Slovakia)

Photoscenery

Photoscenery is texture placed on the surface of the landscape. It can be obtained e.g. from Google Earth. Photoscenery replace (overlay) the default X-plane textures and it displays the real look of the landscape from an aerial view. Photosceneries are available in different resolutions (which are called Zoom Levels, ZL) and they are packaged separately as individual squares.

Following photosceneries are available for the Czech Republic and Slovakia:

  • ZL16: Complete photoscenery for the Czech Republic and Slovakia
  • ZL17: Almost complete photoscenery for the Czech Republic and Slovakia
  • ZL16, ZL17, ZL18: Various squares

Autogen (Open Street Maps-based automatically generated objects)

Various 3D objects (houses, trees, roads e.t.c.) can be placed on surface of landscape (on photoscenery as well as on default X-Plane textures). Although X-Plane itself generates some 3D objects their distribution does not match the distribution of real-life objects. To find the right place for 3D objects the data from Open Scenery Maps are commonly used. The generation is carried out automatically by various scripts. Such automatically generated objects are called "autogen".

Two types of autogen are available for the Czech Republic and Slovakia

  • VFR Project
  • World2XPlane

Airports and helipads

Contains airports and helipads of the Czech Republic and Slovakia

Landmarks

Contains castles and chateaux and manually edited parts of cities and other manually created landmarks.

External libraries

External libraries serves as a source of various pre-defined objects for X-Plane. If the scenery uses the object from external library then the scenery contains only link to the object without necessity to duplicate the object within each particular scenery. The scenery only needs the access to the external library which contains the respective object. In other words if the given scenery utilize object from external library then the external library must be installed within the X-Plane.
